Auto Union in a few words...

Auto Union is the legal denomination
of a group of car brands (Audi, Horch, Wanderer and DKW) built upin Germany in 1932, following the global crisis in 1929 that was fatal to the ambitions of each of these companies.
They decided to gather their strength to constitute Auto Union consortium, and the famous 4 rings logo.
The sales strategy is simple, to share different market segments according to their respective specificities.
Last arrival in this association, the Wanderer company brought the most important : an engineer, called Ferdinand Porsche.

From 1934, these companies arrives successfully in competition, with cars racing prepared by Ferdinand Porsche. Auto Union Type A (1934) - Auto Union Type C (1936) - Auto Union Type C Straemliner (1936) - Auto Union Type D (1938)...
After the war, in 1956, Mercedes Benz becomes the main shareholder group, but sells its shares
to VW in 1964.
Audi brand is relaunched
by VW only in 1965.
